I’ve been wanting the foil eyeshadows by Stila for ages. I’ve seen tons of makeup tutorials on YouTube using this product so I was so stoked when I finally got my own one! Want to see what I think about it?
The packaging is very simple and sleek. The product is in a small container. It comes with a liquid eye primer, a mixing tray and a little cap for the primer.
The swatches are very pigmented. You can see one on my finger, hand and on my eye. I got the shade Kitten. I only used some MAC primer and a thin layer of Luscious, a matching eyeshadow color by the Peach Palette from TooFaced. I did a little drop on my hand and mixed it with the shadow. I used a big flat shader brush to apply it on my eye in patting motions. The final result is very pigmented.
The product feels very funny and liquidy if you touch it with your finger or brush. It moves around a bit. I find one big minus with this product. The Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Eyeshadows are very prone to creasing. You have to be very careful to not take too much of the primer because it makes it too liquidy, causing the product to crease and ruin the entire makeup look. You can see some fine creasing lines at the top of the lid when you do this.
I also think that the glitters are very unique in structure, so none of the glitter particles are alike. Sometimes you don’t have that much coverage with a layer because of this diversity, but then you can add a little bit more.
Quick and short
+Very glittery shadow
+ The color Kitten suits almost every look
+ Gives your look a special, glamorous touch
+ Easy to use
– Feels and looks wet at first
– Prone for creasing after a while
Overall, I really like this product. It makes your eyes stand out very much and it amps up every look. It is great for a party look. I just think it looks stunning and fun on the eyelid and I will continue to use it when I want my eyes to stand out or when I am going to a party. You have to be careful with the creasing issue, so I do not really recommend this product for beginners, as you have to have some skills to apply them evenly and touch up some mistakes, if you get them.
Do you like glitter eyeshadows?
See you next time!
