As you may know, I went to Athens in July. It is a while ago, but I still wanted to do a travel diary because I loved it there so much. I hope you guys get some tips from this post if you want to go there as well. I can recommend it a lot though. Let’s go!
Day 1: Arrival
Day 2: Exploring the neighbourhood
Day 3: Beach hike to Nea Makri
Nea Makri was the village that was the closest to our hotel, so ofcourse we wanted to go there for some sightseeing. We hiked by the beach, because it is so relaxing to walk there. In the village we went for some drinks and a swim in the Ionian Sea.
Day 5: Water sports, beach, Greek food
Today we stayed at our hotel but we didn’t want to just lay there like a dead fish so we did something more active. We got on a sofa ride! This was so much fun to do. Afterwards, we went on a pedalo to explore the a bit more. We got an amazing view of the shore whilst being on our pedalo. At night we enjoyed some typical Greek food, moussaka. It was amazing.
Day 6: Citytrip to Athens
I was very excited for this day because when I go on a holiday, I really want to see things at my destination. I think it’s a shame when you travel hours to see a foreign country and all you do is lay by an artificial pool. Let me take you along on this day.
I was so happy to see all of these monuments. It enriched me and taught me so much. It was impressive to see all the things we talked about in history when I was still in high school.
Day 7: Market at Marathon
Today we wanted to go to Marathon because it was so close to us. Famous for its marathon, we didn’t want to skip this. We went to the local market.
Day 8: Departure
That was it for today everyone! I hope you enjoyed reading and got some tips from this if you want to go to Athens yourself. I had an amazing holiday over there and I am thankful for all the beautiful things I experienced. Definitely a must-see!
Where did you go this summer?
See you next time,
