Tessa tests│ Yves Saint Laurent Blur Perfector review

Hello everyone!

First of all, I would like to apologize for my absence the last few days. I am in the middle of my finals right now and it is very hard and stressy. All I have been doing is studying the last month. Because of that, today’s post is a bit delayed. I hope you don’t mind! Today is all about the YSL blur perfector. Let’s go!

What does it promise?

The full name of this product is the Touche éclat blur perfector by Yves Saint Laurent. On the website we can find that the product mattifies the skin, whilst maintaining the fresh look of your skin. The pearl-looking shine of the product helps your skin with highlighting. The product promises to make your face better than it is already. It should be a real skin perfector.

Let see if this is all true!

The packaging

The packaging is just beautiful. The light soft pink is so classy and girly. It looks sophisticated but still has a girly feel to it. The gold looks so luxurious. It is a compact product. It comes with a pouch to put the product in, together with a sponge to apply it.

Way to go YSL!

Overall view

I applied the balm with the sponge applicator it came with. You are supposed to dab it into the skin. The product isn’t greasy at all. I think it is hard to get out some of the product to get a difference on the skin. For me it doesn’t work enough when I use the sponge. I didn’t notice any difference to my skin. I decided to use it with my vingers. I warm up the product and then apply it. This works much better for me. As a primer, I notice that my skin feels matte. This is a good primer for me because I tend to look greasy after a while and when wearing this, the greasyness is completely gone.

You can also wear the product on top of your foundation, in exchange to your powder. You can put it on a few times a day. Since it is a compact, it is very convenient to do that. I really do not like the product this way at all. It makes my foundation look uneven, it stains my foundation and it takes away some of the coverage. I will definitely not wear it ever again on top of my foundation.

Quick and short

+ Beautiful packaging
+ Convenient in use
+ Compact
+ Works good as a primer
+ Makes your skin look matte

Rubbish on top of your makeup
Hard to use the product with the sponge

I would recommend this product to people that have greasy skin or to make your makeup last longer. It is not ideal for people that have dry skin or dry patches on the skin.

The verdict

I find it very hard to review this product. It isn’t very good, but isn’t also very bad. It is a good primer, but I think you can find a very similar one in the drugstore. It isn’t that good of a quality to ask 45 euros for it. (In my opinion). I don’t think it is as innovative as it promises, to me it doesn’t “perfect” my skin. I will definitely continue to use this product as a primer, but I do not think I’ll buy it again.

I would give this product a 6/10.

That was it for today everyone! I hope you enjoyed reading.

Do you have any primer recommendations for me?

See you next time!

xoxo, Tessa

  1. Sounds like not an essential product. I’ve been enjoying the Laura Mercier foundation primer – not sure if you have access to that brand?
