Hello everyone!

Today’s post is a first impressions make-up look. Last week My mom and I went to Kruidvat, one of the most popular drugstores where I live. There was a sale so I didn’t hold myself and went all out on the make-up department! I went for a dark forest look, with some kaki and jungleshades on the eyes. I hope you like it!

Inspiration

The look is inspired by the eyeshadow quad by L’oreal. Surprisingly, the other products I picked up matched it perfectly!

It is a dark make-uplook you can wear on a special occasion, or just when you want to have fun with your make-up. it is very fitting for wintertime and the holidays.

I really like to play around with my make-up and be creative with it. It is my way of creating art. It is really my biggest passion. I am inspired by the make-up I buy or sometimes I look on Pinterest for some looks. The biggest source of inspiration for my is watching YouTube videos by beautyguru’s! It is my way to relax.

Let’s take a look at how I created this make-up look. First, I am telling you guys how to apply the make-up and after every part, I included a mini-review of the product.

Base routine

I applied my foundation and other faceproducts just like normal. I started with my moisturizer by Nivea, a primer by Make-up Forever, a foundation by Clinique and a concealer by MAC. After that, I sprayed fix+ by MAC to set my face-make-up. I used some browgel by Maybelline and the MAC Painterly Paint Pot to prime my eyes. Lastly, I used my MAC Careblend facepowder to complete the face.

Eyeshadows

To give my eyes some definition and to make the other shadows blend better, I used the colour ‘Limit‘ from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette with a big fluffy blending brush in my crease. With a medium fluffy blending brush, I used the second dark colour from the palette. I am blending it over ‘Limit‘ but I am also taking it a little bit down into my outercorner. Right now, it is time for the main colour of this look, the kaki. I focus this colour with a thick shader brush on the center of the lid toward the inner corner. Right now, it looks a little bit scary and dark, but don’t worry! We’ll make softer with the other colours. I am taking the gold colour from the quad with a flat shader brush and I am applying a generous amount in the inner corner towards the kaki colour.

I am putting it also on the kaki colour to make it more blended and give it a gradient effect. It opens up your eyes more and fade out the darkness a little bit more.

The last step with the L’oreal quad is the darker colour. I am picking it up with a small shader brush and put it in the very outer corner. I am bringing it down to the lower lashline a bit to define my eyes more. To finish off the eyeshadows, I am picking up a white beigey colour on my big fluffy brush. To blend out the colours and make them fade in each other more, I am using this to soften any harsh lines that may be created. I use it on my browbone as well. If needed, intensify some of the colours  if they faded away too much.

L’Oréal Color Riche ombre in Jungle Jade

I am a fan of this eyeshadow palette. Even in the store it immediately caught my eye and I had to have it! The colours look very beautiful in the pan. When swatching them on my hand, the shadows are so pigmented. It almost feels kind of buttery to swatch them, because of the high pigmentation. I think this a very useful palette you can use on different occasions. The shadows are all glittery so that is a bit of a bummer. You have to use another colour to blend the colour because blending with a glittershadow isn’t a very good idea!

Eyeliners

The first eyeliner I am using is by Catrice. It is a soft brown hazel colour. I am using it to line my eyelids. I am creating a soft line because the eyeshadows are already very dramatic. If needed, I use a fading brush with a stiff brush. I use it to blend out eyeliner. It is just a simple line, not a fancy cateye because that would be too much.

Catrice Liquid Metal Eyeliner in nr. 05 Hazel The Hoff

When I swatched this product on my hand, it feels very soft and highly pigmented. It looks like a butter eyeliner, it swatches like a dream! I really like the eyeliner. It is a very handy pencil to work with and I like how the colour looks on.

On my waterline, I used the Essence eyeliner. It is a golden eyeliner. I let it fade in the darkest eyeshadow colour I brought down on my lashline at the outer corner.

This colour looks very beautiful swatched on my hand. It has a nice golden tone and it makes me think of the holidays immediately. It has a light shimmer in it. I am in love with the colour! This eyeliner isn’t very pigmented when you use it lightly, but when you layer it on the product shows better on your waterline.

Mascara

After curling my lashes, I used three coats of my new mascara, also by L’oreal. Before I apply the next coat, I try to let it dry a bit. On my bottomlashes, I only used one layer. When the three layers are dried, I use a lash comb to take off some of the acces mascara to keep the look a bit more “natural.”

Face

I decided to keep my face very muted because the attention should go to the eyes. I used a bit of my new lipstick by L’oreal in red passion as a blush because everybody loves multifunctional, right? It is a dark red so it gives a flushed look to my face which is perfect for this festive season.

This is a deep red colour that is perfect for the holidays. I really liked it on my lips so I wanted to try it as a blush.  It is very beautiful colour when wearing it as a blush.

To top it off, I took a big blush brush and a little bit of the Catrice Illuminating blush. It is a blush and highlighter at the same time. I dusted it over my cheeks and cheekbones, nose, cupid’s bow, top of my chin and a little bit on my forehead.

I really like this blush because of it’s natural look. It is a blush you can pop on when you want a subtle glow and don’t want to look flat. It is quite pigmented, but if you want a more heavy blush, I would suggest another one because it is very hard to layer on this one. It doesn’t look good when you apply more than one layer so keep it lightly dusted!

Lips

Moving on to my lips, I used a mauve lipstick by Maybelline. To top it off, I used some of my Urban Decay ‘Failbaitlipgloss.

The lipstick swatched very beautifully. It is a soft colour and it didn’t made my lips look or feel dry. It gave my lips a deep colour. They feel moisturized but the tint stays on for a long time as well. Sometimes, moisturizing lipsticks tend to come of quickly and lose their pigment.  That was definitely not the case with this one!

The final result

The final look! Excuse the sloppy hair, I was going out and just washed my hair so I still needed to put in in place.

I am absolutely in love with this look. It is a very fitting winterlook and I will definitely wear it again.

That was it for today, Let me know in the comments what you think about this look! Me on the other half had a lot of fun creating this post.  If you guys enjoy reading this kind of posts, I will keep on doing them!

See you next time!

xoxo,

Tessa
